No-code Recomposing the Enterprise Anew

The global pandemic put digital transformation at the top of the corporate agenda: Plans were drawn out, consultants were hired and fancy press releases were issued. But the success rate for digital transformation projects in general turned out to be less than 30 percent and the figures even dipped to as low as 4 percent in some traditional industries. Among the reasons for this failure are a lack of strategic planning, which leaves businesses without a clue as to where to start, absence of clear goals and key performance indicators, costs involved in digital transformation, which deter decision makers, and the perceived uncertainty associated with the whole process, which could be causing resistance within the workforce.

Fortunately, this doesn’t mean that such organizations are completely doomed. The composable enterprise concept shows a way out for those companies that find a wholesale digital transformation undesirable or infeasible. Migrating parts of the monolithic system into the cloud would be a good first step towards achieving composability. Then, a microservices architecture and APIs make sure that your back end is composable. In this kind of an arrangement, the capabilities of the monolithic system is broken down into smaller components in the form of services and deployed on a microservices architecture. A citizen developer can pick and choose from among these services, and by having the chosen services talk to each other via APIs, compose workflows that will fit the tasks at hand. This sorts out the back end part nicely.

However, if the aim is to ensure faster product development, a composable back end alone will not cut it. The UI and front end must be composable, too. No-code platforms are tailor-made for this job as they come loaded with many features like reusable components and drag-and-drop capability that facilitate front end modularity.

This was exactly what we had in mind when Peaka joined forces with Prime to provide Peaka users with PrimeBlocks. We believe in the value reusable components offer because they spare the users the effort needed to reinvent the wheel—it makes no sense to spend time and money to devise a solution from the scratch when there are tried-and-tested solutions available and packaged in the form of building blocks. For no-coders coming from a non-technical background, this partnership will be providing ready-made, editable templates with themes that can be updated as the user sees fit. This will significantly expedite the app building process for no-coders.

However, it is the users with a coding background who we think will appreciate the immense value the Peaka-Prime partnership will deliver. Normally, Prime users would have to write code and use PrimeReact library to build apps. Not anymore. Peaka renders all Prime components and blocks readily accessible and integrates them into Peaka’s drag-and-drop visual designer, thus eliminating the need to code to leverage PrimeBlocks.

The composable enterprise will be an organization that has made no-code an integral part of its operations and takes advantage of the no-code capabilities to gradually replace its legacy system. We believe that no-code is the shortest route to a scalable, service-oriented and self-service organization, and by bringing PrimeBlocks into the no-code world, we are putting our money where our mouth is.
